Meet Our Guides

MEET OUR GUIDES

ABOUT OUR TEAM

My name is Natalia, and I am the founder and one of the guides at Walk Mexico. I began this journey in 2015 to promote Mexico’s heritage, history, and culture. Throughout these years, I have formed a group of expert guides with postgraduate academic degrees who specialize in different fields, offering something more than a traditional tour. Our mission is to create unique and unforgettable experiences.

We invite you to walk with us and learn about Mexico, showing why we love Mexico!

NATALIA

I AM AN ART HISTORIAN, A TEACHER, A CERTIFIED TOURIST GUIDE, AND THE FOUNDER AND OWNER OF THIS PROJECT, WALK MEXICO, WHICH I BEGAN IN 2015 TO PROMOTE THE CULTURE AND HISTORY OF MEXICO.

I WAS BORN AND RAISED IN MEXICO CITY, AND MY PASSION IS TEACHING AND SHOWING THE EVERYDAY LIFE HISTORY OF MY BELOVED COUNTRY. I USE ART TO EXPLAIN HOW LIFE WAS IN OTHER TIMES, SO ON MY WALKING TOURS, I WILL SHOW YOU HOW THE CITY LOOKED, HOW PEOPLE DRESSED, WHAT ACTIVITIES THEY DID THROUGHOUT THE DAY, AND EVEN HOW THE CITY HAS CHANGED THROUGHOUT ITS 700 YEARS OF HISTORY.

MY EXPERTISE IS FOCUS IN MEXICO CITY AND ITS SURROUNDINGS, FROM THE 1300S TO THE 1950S: PRE-HISPANIC PERIOD, VICEROYAL PERIOD, 1800S, AND THE BEGINNING OF THE 20TH CENTURY WITH THE MEXICAN MURALISM AND MODERNIST ARCHITECTURE.

HÉCTOR

I HAVE A RESTLESS, ADVENTUROUS SPIRIT AND A MULTIDISCIPLINARY NATURE. AFTER MANY YEARS OF NOMADIC LIFE, I DECIDED TO RETURN TO MY BIRTHPLACE AND FINALLY ROOT MYSELF. NOW I LIKE TO SHARE MY BELOVED CITY WITH OTHERS, THE SAME WAY I WAS WELCOMED IN DISTANT LANDS. I HAVE ALWAYS HAD AN IRREPRESSIBLE NEED TO DIALOGUE, LEARN AND TEACH, WHETHER AS A STUDENT, TEACHER OR GUIDE, AND THE ACCUMULATED YEARS OF THESE HAVE GIVEN ME GOOD TOOLS TO COMMUNICATE. I LIKE TO STUDY AND UNDERSTAND CONTEMPORARY ISSUES, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE RELATED TO ART, POLITICS AND HISTORY. I STUDIED MY BACHELOR'S DEGREE IN FINE ARTS AT PARSONS SCHOOL OF DESIGN AND MY MASTER'S DEGREE IN CONTEMPORARY HISTORY AT THE UNIVERSITY OF HAVANA AND HAVE TAUGHT AT SEVERAL HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS IN MEXICO.

MARÍA PAZ

Daughter of two history professors, I carry the love for teaching in my veins. I am a writer and art historian with a PhD in Contemporary Art. I am also a contributor to various popular magazines on film, culture and art. Winner of a National Essay Prize in Photography, I am obsessed with the implications of image, cinema, new media archaeology, literature, gastronomy, and nature. During my guided tours I often make connections based on data that seemingly have nothing in common.

JOAQUÍN

I am an architect and architectural historian with a PhD in art history from Mexico's National Autonomous University. I have lived abroad for a while and that's made me realize just how complex and interesting this city is. In my work, I have delved into its past through its buildings, streets and art. I am deeply passionate about teaching and about learning new things, and also about sharing moments and discussing the issues that fill this wonderful place with so many things to see. I also enjoy talking to people from all over the world and can speak English, French and Portuguese.

ELOY

IGNACIO

I am deeply enthusiastic about my culture and México City. I enjoy the opportunity to introduce others to my beloved city. I do it in the same way I was welcomed and made to feel like a part of the community when I traveled and lived in other parts of the world.

I was born here. This is my barrio and I aim to bring you closer to the soul of Mexico while walking the streets of Tacubaya. I am currently pursuing my second postgraduate degree in environmental science.

It is my privilege to share the stories and heritage of Tacubaya and Chapultepec with friends and visitors. I want visitors to experience the warmth and love inherent to this land.
